If you had to use a single word to explain your relationship with God what word would you use? The obvious answer would be Jesus. He is the express image of God, Colossians 1:15 who was sent to mankind to explain to us God’s nature and God’s love, John 14:9. When Jesus died on the cross, the perfect illustration was made of Christ’s serving nature. In order to more fully understand Christ there are some other words that are important to understand. Providence explains how God is active in our lives today. As we pray, God moves mountains to put us into positions to serve him. God is active in the governments of the world, in the hearts of men, and in the circumstances of life, Psalm 121:2. Everything works according to his will. Peace is the ultimate goal for every person. It is what mankind had in the garden at the very beginning of the Bible. But selfishness has caused strife among us all. Jesus is the prince of peace and he offers a better way for each of us. This peace restores our relationship with God and with our fellowman, Ephesians 2:14. Hope is the earnest expectation of our reward that we have in Christ Jesus. While this world is fallen and we so often experience loss and failure, Jesus offers the promise for a better future. This hope that we have empowers us to endure life faithfully, Romans 15:13. Grace can be defined as God’s riches at Christ’s expense. This concept is the center point of Christianity because it represents Christ taking our place on the cross for our sins. None of us deserves to be saved, yet every person is given an opportunity to follow God, Titus 2:11. This brings us to the good news of the gospel. This message, found in Scripture, is the story of how God brings mankind back to him after we have left through rebellion. Each of these words shows us a different side of Jesus. The point is that Jesus is actively involved in this world today and is calling each one of us to come to him. Are you a Christian?
